Hogan's Bait & Tackle

Hogan's Bait & Tackle has run out of Doheny Park Plaza in Dana Point — the strip mall on Pacific Coast Highway across from Doheny State Beach, on the way to the harbor. The family-owned shop's signature is the iron-jig wall and in-house rigging: BD Outdoors regulars call out the rigging quality ("they rig your jigs the way they should be"), and the hook selection covers special sizes, shapes, and colors that big-box retailers skip.

A rod-repair bench, run by Constantino in the back room, handles broken tip and guide work. Frozen bait depth covers full SoCal — anchovy, sardine, squid, mackerel, lobster bait, plus G-Fly flyers and swordfish squid for offshore-exotics. Live bait is lug worms and refrigerated nightcrawlers; live anchovies and sardines come from the Dana Wharf bait barge, not the shop.
